Keeping The Skin Hydrated...Why?

Keep your skin hydrated is important because it will make your skin look plump, radiant, healthy and resilient. Hydrated skin will also help protect us from harmful UV rays, toxic agents and microorganisms. Once the protective barrier of our skin is damaged from dehydration, it will cause skin irritations, infections, redness and in worse cases wrinkles and dark spots will start to emerge.

Even oily skins are not spared from dehydration problems. Yes, even oily skin needs hydration as they are two different things. This is common in teenagers and young adults aged below 28 years old. The individual that uses the anti acne drying products, and the skin gland defend the skin by producing more oil. So why does the skin produce more oil as one uses product to decrease oil, because oily skin attracts moisture and poorly hydrated skin is not good for the skin health.

The body's defense mechanism for the skin is: as product removes oil, moisture is depleted in the skin, and if skin moisture is not replaced by a topical moisturizer then the skin gland will produce increased oil. The skin reacts to the oil, which hold moisture, being removed from the skin by producing more oil. To prevent this in a skin system for oily acne prone skin, a moisturizer specific to the skin condition must be included.

We hope you will now appreciate the importance of hydration is to your skin. You are welcome to give us a call or walk in for a skin analysis if you have problem understanding your skin conditions and what steps needed to maintain the well-being of your skin.

Understanding The Importance of Skin Care

Why is taking care of your skin is so important to you (and us)?

This is a question you need to ask yourself before embarking on skin care treatment regimens in a your favourite beauty salon or dive into a ton of facial products, "hoping" its something that will help cure your skin problems. So do you actually understand what your skin needs in the first place?

In short, your skin is an organ that breathe, heal and protect our body from external harmful elements.

Your skin also shows your appearance to the world, especially your face and neck where hiding visible flaws is virtually impossible. Having a healthy and radiant skin builds self-confidence because you know you look great!

Your skin is also able to take in nutrients from your body internally (from what you eat) and externally (from what you apply on it) and its very special because of this, we must be educated and know what we are doing to it externally. So treat it with TLC (Tender Loving Care). This is what the skin really needs. Some pampering!

With these baisc facts, it is important to note there are seldom any second chances when severe damage is done due to improper maintenance of the skin, by using the unsuitable product, environmental damage, not understanding your own skin characteristics or by given wrong advice by unqualified sales people. Skin is not something that can be replaced, which is why you should always do your best to ensure it is at the best state of health. The onus is on you to make sure it stays great looking!

This is where The Powder Room is willing to share our years of expertise and knowledge with you, in hope that we will see continuous improvement in your skin under our care and advice.
